The Ark

1–2 minutes

Our family visited the Ark Encounter this week on our vacation. It was so amazing to see! If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it!

Since then, I’ve been reflecting on the story of Noah and the ark. Genesis 6:14 tells us that God told Noah to make an ark. He followed that up with specific instructions on how to build the ark and everything that needed to be inside to preserve the lives of the animals and Noah’s family. Genesis 6:22 says that Noah did “all that God commanded him.” At the Ark Encounter, getting to see the amount of detail that allowed for not just survival, but the needs of every living thing on the ark to be met was incredible!

All of this led me to think about how the Lord acts in our lives today. Just like in this story, God sees the whole picture of our lives. He knows every chapter of our story before we do. He knows exactly what our tomorrow will hold, and if we are faithfully walking through life with Him, He will prepare us along the way and give us what we need to survive even the darkest of days.

One of my favorite parts of this story is in Genesis 7:16 where it tells us that “the LORD shut him in.” He knew that Noah couldn’t close that door in his own strength, so He did it. We all have great days and hard days. The truth is, our need for Him never changes. Our need to rely on Him isn’t dependent on our circumstances. We need to daily rely on Him and allow Him to shut us in. Let’s allow Him to be our refuge and strength today and every day.
